can you wheelie your drop handlebar cycle?

Gentlemen - so much anxiety, so little  difficulty! Just remember, it's like riding a bike only more so, and the key is commitment - I am now able to complete a hilly 22 mile route here in Derby, entirely on the back wheel! Inclement weather can be a problem, as some mudguards will snag on the road surface if the front is lifted too far, but a little trimming should sort that out. I have recently taken to doing long "wheelie" rides, with the front wheel removed entirely (the weight saving is worth it going up a 1 in 5); to avoid damaging the dropouts, I have mounted rubber doorstops on both, and if I need to rest, I lower the front fairly gently, and the front end bounces like a pimps caddilac - nice! The effect on other road users is different as well: doing a wheelie on a bike gets odd looks, doing one on a bike with one wheel only has a different effect entirely e.g.

Van Driver: "Oi baldy, someone's nicked yer wheel, ha ha"
Me: "I removed it myself prior to leaving the house, the better to exercise mind and body"
Van Driver: "Ah yes, I can see that now. Have a nice day, and be safe!"
Me: "Thank you, and good luck".

Hope this helps.
