I don't care if it doesn't do anything... I just like doing it. Maybe it's becasue I don't have a pet dog to care for.
It seems part of British cycling Tradition, you buy a British cycling product and then spend the rest of your life waxing it, re-proofing it, botching it to fit with wooden dowels and so on. You actually buy a pet when you buy British goods.
Example:
I bought Ortlieb Panniers. They are German and superb. They fit perfectly and perform zee role of zee Pannier in a precise und (stereotypical) Germanic vay.
I bought a Carradice Saddlebag. Because Carradice Bags hang like a dead cat and rub the back of your legs I bought an SQR fitting for it. Inside the bag is a 12" wooden dowel (non of your carbon-fibre here). The Fabric will require re-proofing occasianally, the straps are impossible to buckle with cold hands and will need some care over the years with wax.
I blame Valerie (ask your Mum if you can use the Scissors) Singleton.
Which do you think I like the most? Yes... my pet saddlebag.
Today I shall be teaching my Brooks B17 to fetch a stick.
