The strand - Londons worst?
« on: January 28, 2008 »
Strand is awful going east to west - but I cycle it west to east in the morning and its OK.  However, the pedestrians by Charing Cross station are complete morons - some of the worst in London.

The peds themselves aren't personally to blame.  They're no more than statistical elements in the chaotic system that is crowd movement.  Think of it as a function of the density of traffic, and the volume of passengers over the platform-to-road distance, multiplied by a factor determined by how early it is in the morning.  The more pedestrians that flood out over an area of pavement and road and the dozier they are, having been recently sitting on a warm train, the less likely they are to be even the slightest bit aware of the ninety kilos of high velocity cyclist, carbon and courier bag that is bearing down on them as they stumble, unthinking onto the Queen's highway.

Charring Cross is merely a mathematical representation of the beauty of mass stupidity  :)
