I was taught to type one summer, using an old fashioned typewriter and a 1960s manual where you had to type endless rows of "asdf - ;lkj" for hours before moving on to real words like 'sad' 'fad' and 'lad.' It took about twenty five pages of these exercises per line of keys. With a keyboard cover over my hands to stop me looking. I attribute much of my ongoing interest in human rights issues to my early typing lessons.
