Identify yourself (part three)

For crying out loud, just do something! Anything! We are high functioning Apes with a strong sense of direction and a flair for problem solving. If that problem consists of finding new ways to gaze at our navels, then we will inflate that problem until it matches our capability to meet that problem. Meanwhile all our systems close down to a level appropriate to meeting the challenges facing us. Soon we are even crap at gazing at our own navels. Reaching out to other Navel Gazers bucks the systems up a bit, but the only people getting anything out of this are the professionals picking up the pieces, they nod sagely and make like they give a toss about another typical set of symptoms. I really don't see how we can think our way out of this identity stuff. Most of the problems are tied up with self-consciousness, so we have to move into a state where action is intense enough for us to live in the 'now' without self-consciousness. This is the curse of intelligence, we too easily apprehend our quotidian round, yet our society has routinised much of the work available to the educated. That's why we go for all this adventure stuff.
Bugger it, just run away and join the Circus.
