On the same subject, a mate of mine gave me a brace of pheasants a couple of weeks ago. He passed them to me in a fairly conspicuous plastic bag from the boot of his landrover. "They've been cleaned" he assured me.They hadn't. The only thing that had been removed was the squawk.I did manage to pluck and clean the male but I had to give up on what was left of the female. I can only assume that either my mate shoots with the first East-Leeds Taliban rifles, he's equipped with some form of automatic weaponry - possibly mounted on an Apache gunship - or game birds enter into close-quarter combat.
