Quote from: Petition
Abolish Non-Crime Hate Incidents
The term 'non-crime hate incident' describes an incident which involves an act by a person which is perceived by another person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards people with a particular characteristic, i.e. race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, transgender identity.

This is literally the least I can do.

It's entirely in character for me to edit an old post to poke a little fun at Ofcom in a way nobody is going to notice without a guide. Click here, perhaps wishing you too could be a Time Lord, then scroll down to the bare-chested man and make your way through the series of cautionary spoilers. Filigree high in the rafters, people.

I'm pleased that A Separate Peace and Annie Jump Cannon are currently both on the front page. That'll last until somebody suitable dies to bump The Slaughtered Lamb, or gets a book for their birthday.

"Sometimes a great notion" is how I feel (at least theoretically!) about a real free-for-all. Under the eye of Ofcom, that would be a different story.

I got it from the film, first a book by Ken Kesey, before that a folk song.

End is Nigh ride
Quote from: someone at LFGSS
Hi folks, massive thanks for the kind offers for a bike. I have now booked to get to London the day before so can confirm my presence. If someone can lend a bike that would be amazing. I'm about 6"

Hi LFGSS. You continue to be a good source of links and laughs. Annoying that someone I might otherwise admire – Velocio/David/Dee – didn't have a problem squashing me like a bug.

Then again, my admiration was quashed a while ago. Dee, this one's for you:

Never trust a ‘male feminist’
Quote from: Meghan Murphy
The truth about contemporary feminism is that the label has become meaningless. A ‘feminist’ is now something anyone can be, regardless of their interest in women’s rights.

I began to reject the ‘feminist’ label some years ago. I felt no desire to attach myself to a movement that had become, at best, silly and, at worst, no longer focussed on women at all. Rather, it had become obsessed with ‘intersectionality’, attaching itself to grotesque slogans like ‘sex work is work’ and advocating for men’s right to use the girls’ changing rooms. The label didn’t offer anything beyond confusion.

Besides, what I call myself has no bearing on what and who I am...

Anyway, what is this motley thread doing here?

Nobody cares, sam

It's intended as a microcosm [geddit?] of NACF. Something else I can bump regularly to help show we maintain a pulse. I had the hardest time figuring out where to put it

Nobody cares about your filing woes, sam

before settling on this board.

PS. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike when post titles on the front page trail off into ellipses? Whoever programmed the text fields to be that length didn't care about getting just the right title.

<sigh>

Ha ha funny

Yeah, but there are different kinds of funny. Like unintentionally. Has that been counted?

[Checks who wrote the screenplay for the Heartbreak Kid remake. Four men and a woman. 80% funny it's not.]

Clearly addicted

The Fridays blossomed on my old forum before they were The Fridays. CycleChat became the new hangout after that. Now it shares with Facebook, though between the both of them (I think we can ignore YACF at this point) the chat and ride reports aren't near the volume of years past.

I'm not a fan of Facebook.

That was my recent wayfinder to NACF getting zapped. Probably automated; then again not everyone is amused by oh the places I go.

Remember when the venerable Simon shared this?

Skins have since gotten thinner, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was now beyond the pale. (Silences going to waste! Well, it was my very first Downfall.)

Two links to leave you with: One Night in the Life of Ivan Shadovich and The Secret Life of Adrian Vole - aged 52½. It's a shame the diarist didn't post those here. I UNDERSTAND.

I'm headed to London later today to cover the Women's March, if by cover is meant post about. Maybe I can get a museum in too.
