Yes, NACA still occupies a corner in the loft (some newcomer has scribbled NCAP on the boxes). I clicked into a thread today for the first time since getting kicked out last year. Appropriately enough, it was Ārseholes – started by someone who was angry at being censored on the main site, then went on to complain about me having my say in their little free speech zone.

Anyway, I saw that tweet and thought of winjim, so let myself fall in.

Quote
So they've deleted my post bringing incidents of misgendering to their attention and asking people to use non gendered terms if they can't bring themselves to use the correct gender, but left the actual misgendering posts intact. It's kind of incidental to the thread so I don't want to make too much of a fuss and derail it, that would be out of order.

So now I have to go through the thread and report each one individually. I also called out some racism the other week and the poster doubled down, although I cba reporting that.

Hi mods, I know you're reading this 👋. I'm aware I don't contribute much to the main forum any more (although hopefully I'll be getting back into cycling this year), but I will always call out misgendering and transphobia when I see it. Expect some reports to come in.

I ask you, who wouldn't like to have a thread named after them?

S'pose it was inevitable that I wouldn't stop with Ārseholes.

I fundamentally disagree with his weaponising of The Gender Debate, and I've got no way of telling whether he actually hold the views he espouses, but I find his posts more entertaining and thought provoking than a good deal of the current forum content.

It's difficult to dislike someone who compliments you. Goddamn human nature. Makes me cross that I can't be 100% cross for the framing of my posts as "weaponising", not to mention previous high crimes and misdemeanors.

Hmmm, wonder if I hold the following view plucked from one of the GC mob on Twix:

Or anything tweeted by this pérsón.
Or this guy gay.

Or this, hot off the press:
Quote from: The Critic
Sex denialists are doubling down on their own irrationality

And that's just the subhead.
click for boring waste of time
Quote from: Victoria Smith
It is a boring waste of time to have to keep stating the bleeding obvious. Nonetheless, many of us have felt compelled to keep doing so because these nonsense arguments are being used to justify real harms, not just to female athletes, but to gender-confused children, lesbians, rape survivors. They’re being used to undermine the entire feminist analysis of male violence, human reproduction and power. Nevertheless, Progressive Man — that type exemplified by the likes of Oliver — is highly affronted that any of us should be making a fuss.

The good news is, I've taken a holy vow to steer clear of the Gender thread. The bad news is, woo still leaks out. Like urine from gender-affirming bottom surgery.

Quote from: AndyRM replying to winjim
I kind of agree with you here, having been vaguely entertained by a few of his posts. But then I remember his weirdo stalkery website and it all just feels a bit uncomfortable.

I'll accept "weirdo" as encomium, and clock the "vaguely" as true to form. As for "stalkery", must all close observers of human nature suffer such insult?

Quote from: winjim
I kind of agree with you, but also it's a sobering reminder that what we post online exists in perpetuity to be read by anyone.

Kiwi Farms has its lolcows; I've had NACA and the like. If you don't fancy my attention, tremble undercover at a place like YACF.

I completely understand why some might not find my jokes funny. Still struggling about the alleged promotion of violence towards women. I suppose if someone has the balls to own up to reporting it then we might be able to understand what's going on in their head. But that's unlikely.

I saw your post; I thought about reporting it, but I'm quite lazy about these things; maybe I did? Well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kinda lost track myself.
I would pop over and check, but I'm currently on a suspension so can't help you at this time. Soz!

Why do I never get the soft caress of a suspension?

That's an old avatar. I don't remember why it was an octopus; perhaps it had something to do with this thread.

I feel like we've all been slapped round the face with an octopus this weekend.

Needless to say I'm not the real winjim. We don't dress anything alike. I have no posh jackets to pawn for rent.

...everyone has their own levels of what is offensive and it probably has a lot to do with who is saying it. I loved and respected Les Dawson so I find all his MIL jokes funny. If I hated Les Dawson like I do Frankie Boyle then I would probably have taken offfense at those same jokes.

Likewise, if my son had Down's Syndrome, I would probably hate every comedian who made a joke about DS. But because no-one I know has it, and I've not felt 1st had what it's like to be teased about it, then it doesn't affect me.

Wait for it (around the 9 minute mark ~ 10.30)

Funny how I didn't recognise Jon Hamm! It's good they went there, even if the sketch didn't quite have me rolling in the aisle.

Quote from: Mein Tool
Well, knock me down with a feather. Looks like Cyclechat wasn't the only forum from which your friend was banned yesterday...

[The following post is a screenhot from LFGSS's Velocio]
Banned that guy for spamming. It's very boring. He'd posted a lot, but I didn't read that... he'd also linked another forum and it made me realise he'd spammed the same topics here, there, and elsewhere... so banned for by far the most boring reason, he is a spammer... nothing even controversial in that.

Gee, I guess that makes Velocio a spammer for all the times he talked about the possible demise of his forum on multiple outlets.

That episode is covered here, and there's more about LFGSS there and elsewhere not far away. I can't really complain about all my content (an infinitesimal amount of which was on this topic) being deleted, so won't. Archive to the rescue, if you want a sample.

...and before you try and blame me, no. I'm not a member.

Mein Tool probably learned about it from yours truly. Seriously; he/himmler (that never gets old) is a lurker. Glad to be of service.

it's hard to imagine not feeling at least a little disappointed if the case doesn't succeed. (I think it will.)

Then, Sam, you should adopt the brace position.

I don't know, or care, how the wroNg 'un is spinning the sex realist win in the Supreme Court yesterday. I'd guess a strained nonchalance,

and a big dose of faux legal wisdom courtesy N. Doubtless the ECHR will come up, if N can tear Nself away from the glory hole that is Strasbourg (don't Google that like I just did).

bonus clicky

Quote from: misscockerspaniel @ mumsnet
We need to remember that this ludicrous position arose due to the underhand, stealthy behaviour of a cohort of interested parties [my link] - people with various agendas who have infiltrated political parties, unions, the civil service, the education system, the media etc. And how do you think they will react to this judgment? Even before the dust has settled, they will be working to keep their ideology on track, and I doubt that they will allow the Supreme Court to derail their goals. How will they circumvent this ruling? By using Parliament to pass amending law?

How many of us were caught napping or fell into line with the be kind mantra. This fight is far from over.

I'm sending a big hug to anyone here who is distressed by the supreme court's ruling about trans women. No doubt there will be even more obnoxious crap from the anti trans brigade...

Thanks for the unexpectedly speedy reply. It gives me the opportunity to ask a presumptuous favour of a stranger. I started various threads over there, most of which are sadly well below the fold...

Yesterday I entered the username of a certain newly prolific NACAn into the search field of said social media platform and was pleasantly surprised to find an account for him. This immediately activated NACF's publicity department,* which is incapable of embarrassment.

In case you missed it:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckgv8v5ge37o.amp
Quote
Supreme Court hearing case on definition of a woman
The case started on Tuesday, with judges hearing from lawyers acting on behalf of the For Women Scotland campaign group, which is concerned about the potential impact of trans rights on women's rights. The Scottish government's legal representatives will address the court on Wednesday, before the judges retire to consider their ruling - which could take several weeks. At the most basic level, the case centres on what “sex” actually means in law.

Didn't think so.

About this video: spoiler
Perfect on all levels except for the lyrics, which need a little work. I am clearly frustrated that my thread, tailor made for a post-Supreme Court ruling, was dropped in favour of a thread past its sell-by date. Trans-identifying people are frustrated that they aren't what they aren't, and with people who won't accept them for what they aren't. The guy crouched down with the necklace would be an enby today.

'Soft Cell' works with polysemous irony given the hard sell (mind the homonym, though note that you are your sex in every cell of your body) of gender ideology and the theme of advertisements for theyself.

Quote from: cont'd - remember me?
...but you may prefer 'House prices are insane', currently on p3, or one of the topics sliding down p4.

As quid pro quo I would then be pleased to entertain a favour in return. Bear in mind I run a wildly uninfluential blog disguised as a forum, and have nothing of value to offer.

On my site you'll see a board advertising "context collapse". The idea was to provide a place for people to talk about their respective forums. It is open to guest posting, i.e., registration is unnecessary and will remain so unless I run into difficulties with nefarious private agents and/or Ofcom, ranked unlikely and vanishingly unlikely.

To get to the point, consider this an invitation to contribute your thoughts. On whatever. I'm not sanguine, but one never knows.

In closing,

My guess is he quickly thought things over and decided "Nah, I'm good."

Listen people, you have to help me out. Trying to bend people to my will is tiring. Take the initiative and publicly appreciate the innovative work we do here, such as occasionally putting the followup asterisk first, and not being boring.

The other Joan

As you can see, I'm happy to sell myself out for a good cause. Grist for the mill.

I'm told moNkers is still identifying as a "cis lesbian". Must be a fan of Fargo.
