Anything goes
« on: July 31, 2021 »
Once you've marked someone as disagreeable or at least generally to be disagreed with, it's a pleasant surprise to step out of that (and indeed, you owe them a fair hearing with every new post, tiring as that sounds). Such was the case on what I'm going to call the gammon thread. "Post Of The Day" said Fab Foodie at one point, and I agreed with the assessment, happy for the heads-up despite my instinctive distrust of all things Fab Foodie. It was a submission by winjim, on first reading a brilliant deconstruction of gammon as insult, bumping her up* into the undecided column. Then it was gone before I had a chance to make sure it really was brilliant, which makes it safe for me to post this. Thanks for literally nothing, moderator.

The thread was also notable for bringing the thus far agreeable fozy tornip to my attention: "Borne aloft on a warm current of 'likes'."

I think there should be a 'back yard ' area where anything goes.

Establish the right vibe and let the whole place be gloriously "anything goes". You may say I'm a dreamer. At any rate, CC will never be that place.

Today, I retired as a CC Moderator.

I haven't made a close study of Spokey, so I don't know if he was one of the good ones or not (mustn't let who likes that sway me). Are there any good ones?

* Winjim had annoyed me on a trangender thread and had nowhere to go but up. To be fair, this isn't really enough to go on. A few days later I would enjoy her (and Spokey's) contributions on the marital dispute thread. Maybe the trick is to ignore the politics board, eh? As if.

Olympics with a twist.

Too clever by a half gainer. That won't do.
