The good life. Or at least a honking big generator for the next time we fall off the grid.
From Friday morning till Monday evening we three

were holed up waiting for the lights to come back on.
This got me feeling nostalgic. I lived off grid for around 2 years in South London in the late eighties. We had a massive open fire and garnered scrap wood on a handcart or with the bike trailer. Every day started with a chopping marathon - a fine way to warm up in itself.
When the hurricane of '87 struck and the power for those powered folk was off for three days there was such a run on candles and bottled gas we were seriously inconvenienced for some weeks.
I still have a calor gas cauldron, amongst the miscellaneous mountains of stuff.
