– DECLASSIFIED –

I'm breaking spy protocol by telling anyone this.

This is me.

This too.

I've also started a thread on cats.

These posts, and all the others that I've made so far, are in service to one goal: to gain admittance to the politics board. The last time I tried was December 2022, the lesson being that honesty isn't always the best policy; I already knew they didn't have much of a sense of humour, but apparently needed a refresher.

Shortly after registering this past September and making it through security (changing my IP address must have helped), I contacted the powers-that-be as instructed and waited while nothing happened. Upon contacting a moderator via PM I was told

Quote from: SpokeyDokey
we usually wait until we have a reasonable 'feel' for a new member's behaviour until we grant access to NCAP. Suggest that you make a request a couple of months down the line.

This was annoying. Mein Tool, for example, got in after about a week and a dozen posts. Did his subsequent behaviour, or somebody else's, prompt a change in policy? Who knows.

Requiring a minimum term on the main site is not unreasonable, but it would be nice if they mentioned this at the beginning. Then again maybe they want to catch out eager beavers like me.

Anyway, I set about establishing myself and bided my time impatiently watched the calendar. All pretty uneventful, though I did earn a rebuke for posting the following in a since-deleted thread:

"Sexist and racist" according to the person who presumably reported it. "Totally inappropriate" said the mod, which was factually incorrect as it was entirely appropriate given the context (another equally "sexist and racist" post by forum big swinging dick Drago). Oh well.

It's not much fun not being able to be yourself, watching everything you say. My too apt choice of username is as risky as I want to get. Best not to go on about bunnies. Or misfortunes with titanium. Or any of the things I normally like to post about here. As further cover, I show little restraint when it comes to likes/reactions, and have "earned" a good number myself, which you'd think would grease the wheels...

Today I made the mistake of trying to speed up the process. I had considered contacting the same mod and privately pleading my case based on a pressing need to comment on the US election, but decided to see if I could slide in along with the OP. No such luck; turns out I'm not the only one calendar watching. Ooof, that was embarrassing.

As a final blunder – where did I go to spy school anyway? – I got in touch with Spokey one last time about the possibility of starting a neutered post about the election. His response:

If you need to discuss the matter I respectfully ask you to join a political forum.

What the fuck do you think I was trying to do? I replied using somewhat more moderate language, with a smiley attached for good measure. Way to get myself on the radar as a person of interest. Look, I know the only reason Shaun set up NACA was to get certain people out of his hair, not out of any commitment to free political speech, but jeez louise.

I respect Kemi. Here's one reason why:

Whatever our disagreements (I'll have to get back to you about that), she's far more articulate and genuine than Starmer and most of the Tory competition.

Here's another hint she might not be so bad:
Quote from: moNkers
Having cleared the more moderate Tories from the race in order to clear the way for one moderate candidate, and getting it wrong, they ensured that Party members were given the choice between two twats.

moNkers calling someone a twat is practically an endorsement until proven otherwise.

It may not end up being as fun as I'd hoped, but at least that's one thing off my bucket list.

You can't see my NACA sig if you're not logged in, but it's a particularly germane quote by Slow Horses author Mick Herron: “If words meant different things to different people, how could they be trusted?”

What is a woman?

Is this going to be a gender thread V2.0?

If so, Christmas came early.

moNkers leads with ho-hum nothing much to see here, followed by his usual MO, a wall of text studded with legalese meant to impress. He was kind enough to give me a nice big present (twice):

trans women are women

And we're off.

Well, it lasted a week, and on the seventh day I rested; unless you don't count what may be
my

early this morning.

What is a woman?

Colin Wright lol.

You asked for gossip to get to know people better but honestly by now I reckon I could write your script for you.

I think we all could, couldn't we?

Register a new account (because his last few have been banned) start a few threads as cover, including the 'Help out new member' faux-naive one asking members to describe the pecadilloes of existing members (like he doesn't already know  )

...meanwhile desperately trying not to blow his load all over his laptop screen as he holds back from starting a thread on his monomaniacal obsession.

Ha ha ha hahaha.....what a facile dork :laugh::laugh:

Proof, if such was needed, that Tool has the hots for me. I'm going to interpret that as coquettish laughter.

Quote from: moNkers
...Of course you started this thread because the other thread died and you needed content for one of the other places you go. You are the person that others call Sam, or the other Sam or whatever.

Great song choice!

My work there was done anyway.

Part of that work included this thread, which is a good showcase of the mean (or maybe it's median? no, mean) IQ of NACA. In my next post I was going to briefly discuss how it was an exercise to chip away at the cliquishness to be found on most forums. That became a nonstarter after my cover was blown; best to vacate the thread entirely, rather than continue to engage there. Pity, as both the dopey AndyRM and exceptionally easy to trigger winjim had done what I'd asked despite themselves, or in wj's case at least made a start.

Incidentally, if a NACAn doesn't turn the facility off in their privacy settings, anyone can see approximately what they're up to. Last night I watched various people sending PMs to each other, including the odious glasgowcyclist, almost certainly to Mein Tool, considering how quickly the latter replied to this. moNkers is forever adjusting his account details for some reason.

I did wonder about this with this sudden zeal for talking about gender, gossip about members, and reference to CC as “across the street”. What clinched it was starting a thread on multitools.

Yes, I did leave enough bloody clues. It's almost as if I wanted to get caught...

Icing on the cake

If you're going to be blown, might as well relax and enjoy it.
